About Alcoholism and Other Drug Addiction

There are countless reasons one begins to drink alcohol or use other psychoactive mind altering chemicals in the beginning. It spans from experimentation to altering mood or even surgery.  Commonly referred to as liquid courage!

There is not but one way to acquire the chemical disease of addiction, it has to enter the human body i.e. eating or drinking, smoking, snorting, injecting, etc.  Either over a period of time or perhaps a family genetic factor, organs of the body gradually change causing beliefs and behavior to ultimately create a life of personal self destruction. Those near and dear are equally living through this destruction.  Thus it's known as a “family disease”.

The American way of life and most other countries accept and promote alcohol and other mind altering substances as a lifestyle.  A certain amount of us develop alcoholism or drug addiction as evidenced by the millions throughout the world in recovery and billions of dollars of research.

Truthfully stated, this progressive disease causes one’s body physical harm, impairs mental capabilities and spiritual growth becomes bankrupt.  In other words, the true person is basically asleep while living through the devastation of this disease.  After numerous attempts to control consumption resulting in incomprehensible and demoralizing failures the fortunate ones reach out for help.  For those robbed of having the capacity to reach out the Addicted Mind Lies to them, resulting many times in needless death.

About Recovery

This is what I live for!  Fun in recovery is what it’s all about.  Instead of false Addiction Lies preoccupying the mind, reality reveals we feel much better day by day.  Destructive beliefs and behavior disappear and true happiness and joy lead the way.

The body, mind and spirit must heal as any other physical disease.  It's a process that begins from living in the insanity of being under-the-influence to “fun in recovery” experiencing a wonderful life beyond our wildest dreams.

Our best thinking is what got us here, therefore the disease cannot be in control for one to successfully recover. It will not and cannot destroy itself!  The recovery process is more like a gentle leaf slowly and steadily making its way up stream.  Remaining in the disease of progressive destruction with possible fatal consequences is much like being trapped in strong and violent current crashing downstream.

Recovery means freedom!  It cannot be purchased or bottled, it’s developed from within oneself through recovery.  “I assure you if recovery didn’t work... I would more than likely be dead or certainly in some other part of the world instead of enjoying 32 years of personal recovery.”

It’s a given that those suffering from the effects of alcoholism or drug addiction are in a place that it is normal to drink or drug and abnormal to not. The next time you consume your choice of drug i.e. alcohol or other drugs resulting in shocking or unbearable consequences be that one to reach out and ask for help.  There’s a great big life out here just waiting for you to come aboard!​
